Akira, winner of the Miss Webmodel 2001 title is often asked how she got her start in modeling. The answer is found on her website, "It was a cold winter night, the chill was warded of with more than a few shots of Tequila. A close friend of mine, who knows me well enough to know that I am a bit of an exhibitionist and love to perform, suggested that we take a few photos with his new digital camera. Most women would say, "yeah, right - get a life." But not me, I am always up for a good dare and before long I was posing like crazy."

Akira was born and raised by an Okinawan mother and a Hawaiian father, Akira lived in Okinawa, Japan until age of 18. She then moved to the United States to further her education and graduating from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Internal Business. Prior to her modeling success, Akira also has a professional successful career in the high-tech industry as a software consultant. She has left her full time employment to pursue her modeling career but still is involved in consulting projects.

Her recent accomplishments include appearances on the Playboy Channel, Playboy magazine, and Sexy Stangs magazine and several forthcoming calendars including the Women of East 2003 calendar. Also, look for her in one of the starring roles in the upcoming Indigo Entertainment movie "Thrust" and the Rosebud Film "The Accidental Stripper" Both films will appear on Playboy channel, various premium cable outlets (HBO, Showtime, etc) and are soon to be distributed through Blockbusters.
